Kate enters her second year as Head Coach with the Waterloo Warriors track and field team. After a successful first season in the position Kate was a final nominee for UW Imprint Coach of the Year award. Before leading the team Kate joined the UWTF staff following your varsity Warrior career in 2008 assisting with the sprints & hurdles group as well minor clerical roles. In 2009 Kate became the team manager along with coaching taking on many of the administration duties as well as recruiting.
While under head coach Shane Ferth, Kate was a part of the many successes of the team including OUA and CIS podium finishes, final and semi-final performances on the OUA and CIS level, a dozen school records and numerous UWTF Top 10 births. She is NCCP Level II certified in sprints, hurdles & relays.
Kate and her husband, former head coach Shane Ferth, welcomed their first son in August 2016. She also works full time at Manulife as a Project Coordinator in Corporate Real Estate. As a former UWTF athlete and 400m hurdler Kate looks forward to the challenges of being a new mom and coach while continuing her athletics.

Kofi moves into the Associate Head Coach position after being with the Warriors for three years as an Assistant sprints and relays coach. Following his varsity career in 2013 Kofi worked closely under former Head Coach Shane Ferth and the speed and power group further developing his knowledge in the sport. Kofi is also the head strength and conditioning coach for UWTF.

Bryan Stride enters his third year as head coach of the cross-country program in 2014. Stride of Fergus, Ontario is a well-known and respected long distance running coach in the Fergus and Guelph area. Stride, now retired, was a teacher for over 25 years in the Upper Grand District School Board having taught physical and health education. As department head of physical education, Stride has always been an advocate of an active and healthy lifestyle through running.
Stride has been the head coach of various high school cross country and track teams while also writing and directing personal fitness for students-athletes, peers and teachers throughout his teaching career.
On top of his coaching accolades, Stride has also reached several outstanding personal feats as a cross country runner. He was the Canadian Masters champion four straight years (1991-1994) and also has several Ontario University Athletics titles to his name. Stride has earned two provincial titles (1975, 1976) while also collecting a national championship in 1976. Additionally, Stride placed fourth at the 1975 Pan American Games in the 3000m steeplechase.

Rick Heemskerk

Rick has been coaching the high jump group at UW T&F since 2000, and has an equal number of years high jump coaching experience with Kitchener-Waterloo Track and Field Association. In his competitive days, Rick was an outstanding athlete as he was the Canadian High School high jump record holder in 1975.

Gary comes to the Warrios family with over 30 years' experience as a throws coach. While teaching at Thousand Islands Secondary he coached multiple high school competitors to OFSAA gold. As a club coach he helped athletes win provincial and national medals in shot put, javelin and hammer throw. He is currently the throws coach for St. David CSS.
